Welcome to the West Gate on the Great Medicine Wheel of Life. The Spirit of the West represents the Fall season and calls us deep into the caves of our own consciousness. BEAR Medicine is reflective in the West Gate and reminds us that Fall is all about going within (cave time); re-viewing where we have come from and seeking the deeper meaning of where we are going.   If we slow down enough, we can witness nature as one of our best teachers. Plants and leaves are changing color and retreating back into the earth as compost for next spring. Harmony can be found in this Sacred Hoop of Life when we mirror the energy of natures reflection. What do you need to let go of as compost? What needs a deeper review?

The color BLACK seems appropriate as the color typically associated with this direction. Pondering the dark night under a new (black) moon may help reflect back to us, the shadows of our own self. Sometimes looking deep into our own eyes is one of the hardest things to do.  This is the season to go deep into your own shadows as you continue to discern the truth of your life’s tapestry for yourself. Take some time to sit quietly. Create sacred space and welcome a conversation with your shadow self.

Here are your buzz words for this season of the BEAR:

Third eye chakra, introspection, rest, going within, slowing things down, time to ponder, review, dark night of the soul. Path of the Jaguar, stepping beyond our fear, movement into darkness. The energy of the West reflects the Adult phase of one's life, the Evening time of day, of the Sunset and the Half Moon.

Bring to mind your intentions and ask: How can the seasonal energy of Fall help you to move forward? I invite you to go on a shamanic journey to meet and greet the ancient wisdom inherent in each of us. The answers live in our Spirit’s knowing potential.

Aho!
